Dear Editor,
I note with interest the quick response of the PNCR (‘No objection to Globe trust probe – PNCR,’ SN April 23) in reply to my letter in the press having to do with Globe Trust (‘Why is the PNCR afraid of an investigation into Globe Trust?’ SN April 21).
Mr Corbin is asking for a correction and also an apology as the proper thing in view of the letter. I would think a very genuine ‘thank you’ is much more appropriate, as he has in a pellucid manner, cleared the air for all of Guyana to see that he, the executive of the PNCR and the PNCR as a party welcome an inquiry into the Globe Trust fiasco.
This writer, and many who are PNCR supporters, were of the opinion that the PNCR was against an inquiry as some of its executives and former executives serving in the management structure of Globe Trust may be involved in the mismanagement and destruction of the entity. Maybe the party was not vocal enough in its call for an inquiry.
I say then to my good friend Mr Corbin, adjust the motion as suggested by the President to include Globe Trust, and let us get the ball, or balls, rolling, quick, quick, quick!
My intention was not in any way to tarnish the party but to get it to make a grand stand for an inquiry into Globe Trust. I am successful, and while not seen or appreciated now by the party, soon they will see that it was a good thing I did. The party can now ‘shine’ on the issue, as we say in Guyanese style. No ill-will was intended. I hope this makes the PNCR feel a bit better.
Yours faithfully,
Roshan Khan
