A Royston Fraser double was the highlight of the evening as Milerock and Blueberry Hill United Football Clubs assured themselves a share of the prizes by reaching the semi-finals of the Linden Town Week Football Tournament being staged at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground.
Milerock advanced at the expense of Silver Shattas whom they defeated 2-1 while Blueberry Hill United whipped host club Netrockers 3-nil on Friday.
Fraser of Blueberry Hill United set his team off with a goal in the 18th minute before Mark Liddell added a second in the 65th minute. He completed his double in the 72nd minute to ensure Blueberry Hill United reach the final four which will be contested today.
Milerock’s goals came off the boot of Jermaine Mc Bean (9th) and Trevor Tudor (56th) while Silver Shatters managed to pull one back through the efforts of Cherish Spencer (59th).
Milerock will face Bakewell Topp XX in what is already being dubbed a premature final while Blueberry Hill United square off with Eagles United in the opening semi at 18:30hrs.
This year’s top prize is worth $300,000 with the losing finalists pocketing $200,000 and the third and fourth place finishers taking home $100,000 and $50,000 respectively, along with trophies for the first to fourth finishers.
Other prizes include $15,000 for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) and $10,000 for the leading goal scorer.
