A 27-year-old mother of one was on Monday granted bail to the tune of $200,000 when she appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court to answer a simple larceny charge.
It is alleged that on April 19 at Georgetown, Tamisha Tucker of 9 Durban and Camp streets stole from Kendra Keizer 5,000 euros, equivalent to $1.5 million.
Attorney-at-Law Mark Waldron who represented the defendant told the court that the two women had a business arrangement which unfortunately did not materialize and soon resulted in the virtual complainant (VC) filing this most unfounded claim.
According to Waldron, the fact that the VC was not present in court spoke volumes to the fact that the claim is an unfounded one since, “if that much money were indeed taken from her she would have made every effort to attend court in an effort to be heard and see that justice is served.”
Waldron then made an application for bail to be granted on the grounds that his client poses no risk of flight and has been fully cooperating with police investigations.
