KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – Asafa Powell plans to honour his obligation at the IAAF World Athletics Tour meeting in Doha, Qatar, on May 8.
This follows the former World 100 metres record-holder limping off the track after anchoring the Jamaica men’s 4x100m relay team at the 115th Penn Relays last Saturday.
Paul Doyle, Powell’s agent, played down the injury, after the big sprinter jogged to the finish line in obvious discomfort.
He added that the sprinter had told them that morning he felt much better and wanted to run the relay in Philadelphia.
Powell missed the U-Tech Classic at the National Stadium the previous weekend put on by his club MVP, and rejected claims that he was injured, although he ran with bandages on his left ankle and hobbled away from the track before he was seen icing the area later.
The Qatar Super Grand Prix meet is part of the 25 fixtures of 2009 IAAF World Athletics Tour.
