The St Joseph High School Old Students Association is hosting a week of activities to celebrate its Fourth Triennial International Reunion.
In a press release the Association said celebrations are being held from July 12-18, under the theme ‘Reconnecting in friendship and service for the future’ and is expected to draw participation from past and current students along with staff and friends of the school.
The Association said the calendar of events starts with a church service and brunch on July 12 at the Brickdam Cathedral and at the school. Other activities on the roster include an open day at the school on July 13, a variety show at the National Cultural Centre on July 14, a nostalgic and games night on July 15 and a 70s and 80s party on July 17. The latter two activities will be hosted at the school. Other activities have also been planned that will close with a Grand Reunion Dinner and Ball set for the Banks DIH Sports Ground at Thirst Park on July 18.
The release said the reunion will provide an opportunity for the local and overseas alumni, the board of governors and PTA to meet at a session set for July 15. This meeting aims at charting a way forward for collaboration on the continued development of the school. President of the Association Wasim Khan said there are very high expectations of the reunion and the response has been favourable so far.
According to the release the alumni, particularly those in Guyana, Canada and the USA, have, over the years, contributed tremendously to the development of the school. A computer laboratory has been established at the school and the home economics, science and technical drawing laboratories have been completely refurbished.
Several souvenirs including a magazine are being produced for the event. Persons interested in attending the reunion and securing tickets and other items are encouraged to register by uplifting a registration form from the school or visiting the website www.sjhreunion09.com For more information enquiries can also be made by emailing info@sjhreunion09.com or sjhosaguyana@yahoo.com
