Pitbulls favoured
With $1 million in prizes at stake and being the strongest team in the competition on paper, Gizmos and Gadgets Georgetown Pitbulls are favoured to cart off the DJ Stress T20 festival which is set to bowl off today at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence.
The Pitbulls are led by Guyana and Stanford Superstar Travis Dowlin and include the fast-rising all rounder Christopher Barnwell, West Indies Limited overs batsman Leon Johnson along with Derwin Christian, Deon Ferrier, Orin Forde and Rayon Griffith.
National players in fast bowler Trevon Garraway, opening batsman Shemroy Barrington who replaces the injured Ravi Sarwan and spinner Steven Jacobs, along with Troy Gonsalves, Leroy Bristol, Dennis Squires and Damion Van Tull complete the Pitbulls lineup.
The Pitbulls will encounter the Zaheer Mohammed-led East Coast Power Stout XI in the first match of the day’s proceedings, which is actually a semi-final encounter set to bowl off from 10:00hrs.
Mohammed will receive support from the hard hitting Harrinarine Hira and Vishnu Ramjeet, along with Imran Khan, Rakesh Garbarran, Vishnu Lall and former national wicketkeeper/batsman Sheik Mohammed.
In the other match of the day, New Line Cavaliers led by national middle order batsman Gajanand Singh will oppose East Bank Igloo Jaguars from 13:30hrs.
As an added attraction, a Suriname Challengers team will oppose Capo XI in a 10 overs-a-side exhibition match and there will be lots of games and side attractions for the children attending the festival.
