Milerock and Blueberry to clash in final
Upper Demerara Football Association (UDFA) 2008 League champions Milerock came from behind to defeat Topp XX, whilst Blue Berry Hill United needled Eagles United to set up a clash in the final of the Linden Town Week senior football tournament last Tuesday at the Mckenzie Sports Club ground.
Led by a Kevin Layne double, Milerock were able to come from a goal down to defeat Topp XX 3-1. The latter had taken the lead, following a Keon Sears 26th-minute goal which they took with them into the lemon time break.
But Layne found the back of the net in the 61st minute, followed by his second six minutes later to send his team into the lead. They cemented their position in the final, when Sean Henry found the back of the net in the 80th minute.
Meanwhile, a Royston Fraser 45th-minute strike, guided Blue Berry Hill to a 1-0 victory over Eagles United in the first match of the double header.
The final will be played tonight at the
same venue, but will be preceded by the third place playoff between the two losing semi finalist Topp XX and Eagles United from 1800hrs, with the final kicking off from 2000 hrs.
