Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton on Thursday remanded to prison a man, who allegedly robbed another man of a gold ring and band at gunpoint, and later discharged a loaded firearm at another man.
Dion Layne pleaded not guilty to the charges of robbery under arms and discharging a loaded firearm, when the charges were read to him at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
Layne denied that he used a gun to rob Rodsdale Sutton of a gold ring and band valued $140,000, on April 23.
He also denied that on the same day he discharged a loaded firearm at Emmett Souers, with intent to disable or disfigure him.
Attorney-at-law Mortimer Coddette, who represented Layne, applied for reasonable bail for him.
Police Prosecutor Robert Clement objected to the bail application and asked that Layne be remanded.
The magistrate subsequently ordered that Layne be remanded to prison and that he appear back in court on May 18.
