Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson on Thursday heard a tale of accusations and counter-accusations after which she placed two men on $75,000 bail each on a robbery with violence charge.
Twenty-one-year-old Delwin Browne and Kevin Rogers, 18, both of Kitty pleaded not guilty to the charge of robbery with violence.
It is alleged that on April 28, the two robbed Emerson Campbell of a quantity of cash, a gold chain and a cell phone, totalling $214,000, and they used violence to commit the act.
However, Browne and Rogers had first accused Campbell of robbing them of a gold chain.
Campbell stated that on the day in question he was standing at the bus park when Browne and Rogers approached and accused him of stealing a gold chain.
He said he told them he did not know what they were talking about and took out his phone to make a call to his father. However, he was dealt a blow to his head with a glass bottle. He said he fell to the ground and when he recovered from the blow he discovered that his cell phone, gold chain and cash were missing.
He made a report to the police station and the two were arrested and later charged.
The magistrate placed both Browne and Rogers on $75,000 bail each and ordered that they return to court on June 23.
