Dear Editor,
Local government elections are crucial for Guyana’s democracy, wellbeing, and even for the reputation of the present government and opposition parties. This country for too long has been caught in the ideological, political game-playing of those who will not risk their political interest for the overall benefit of the country.
There are young people across Guyana with enormous potential to be Guyana’s greatest leaders, but sadly their right to make a tangible contribution to the political, social, and economic welfare of this country is being bogged down by calculated political strategies aimed more at preserving an ideological position than forwarding the great cause of this country.
The blame game and secret political manoeuverings are felt like dagger in the heart of those who yearn to bring more sane leadership to this country.
Yours faithfully,
Ronald Hudson
