Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson granted a father of seven $75,000 bail when he appeared in court to answer to the charge of conspiracy to commit a felony.
It is alleged that from May 3 to June 6, 2005, at Georgetown, 51-year-old John Haywood of 179 East Ruimveldt, conspired with person or persons known or unknown to forge one Power of Attorney number 2335 of 2005 and an affidavit of donor purporting to be signed by Walter Stuart.
Haywood pleaded not guilty to the charge when he on Thursday appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
In her submissions his attorney told the court that police have been investigating the matter for a year and there had been no new developments or substantial reason for him to be charged.
She then asked the court to grant Haywood bail in a reasonable sum, on the grounds that he is not a flight risk; he has been cooperating with the police in their investigations and he has no previous antecedents.
Haywood, a glass bottle vendor, was ordered to return to court on June 30 for statements.
