The PPP has condemned the killing of Guyana Power and Light (GPL) Security Head Clifford Peters, in the line of duty.
“No one should have to be afraid of doing their job. No society can tolerate this,” the party said in a press release. It also urged the police to leave no stone unturned in the hunt for the killer/s.
Meanwhile, the party said it is concerned about the number of crimes where firearms are being used. This suggests that too many illegal weapons are in the country and in the hands of criminals, it said, adding that measures must be taken to get the weapons off the streets as soon as possible.
The PPP also extends sympathies to Peters’ wife, children and other relatives as well as to the management and staff of the GPL.
