Ten films will be screened at the “European Film Festival 2009,” which begins on Monday at the Theatre Guild Playhouse, in Kingston.
The film festival, a presentation by the Delegation of the European Commission, will run from Monday to Friday May 15. It is the second such film festival organised by the delegation of the EC.
According to a statement by Ambassador Geert Heikens, the five-day event will open with Run Lola Run, which would be followed by a cocktail reception in the playhouse foyer. The films being screened are: Run Lola Run (Monday); Villa des Roses and Rembrandt (Tuesday); Shouf Shouf Habibi and Bella Martha (Wednesday); De Tweeling and Comedian Harmonists (Thursday); and Gottesanbeterin (Praying Mantis), Den Osynlige (Invisible) and Donau (Friday). They make up work from Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Austria and Belgium and explore subjects that range from crime to immigration, romance and the ravages of war.
The films will be shown at 18:30 hrs daily, with no cost for admission.
