Wilson, 66, of Blueberry Hill, Wismar, Linden was rushed to the medical institution sometime before 11pm on Saturday. He died almost two hours later while receiving medical attention.
Police, in a press release issued last evening, said they are investigating a fatal accident that occurred at about 10 pm on Saturday at Mc Doom Public Road, East Bank Demerara. The accident, police confirmed, resulted in the death of pedestrian Wilson.
Investigations, according to police, revealed that the driver of motor vehicle PKK 7636 was proceeding south along the eastern carriageway when it is alleged that Wilson was struck down while crossing the road.
“The driver of the motor vehicle ran away from the scene”, police stated. The vehicle was taken into custody.
Wilson, police said, was taken to the GPH where he died while receiving medical attention.
Wilson, according to reports, was visiting relatives at Lot 40 Cross Street, Mc Doom to attend the Queh-queh. The man, relatives said, left the pre-nuptial ceremony sometime around 10 pm on Saturday to return to his relatives’ home where he was staying.
He was reportedly struck by a car as he was crossing the road in the vicinity of the gas station located at Mc Doom. An alarm was immediately raised and relatives rushed Wilson to GPH.
