CHESTER-LE-STREET, England, CMC – Brendan Nash says he is sure the Windies can bounce back from their emphatic loss to England, especially against the backdrop of their recent series win in the Caribbean last month.
West Indies went down by 10 wickets inside three days in the opening Test at Lord’s last week, to fall behind in the short two-match series.
“We have shown that we can play well against them. As we look ahead to the second match we need to be confident, as the skipper has said before,” the 31-year-old Nash said. “We built some good momentum in the series in the West Indies and it was disappointing we lost the first match here.”
West Indies played superbly in their conditions at home in the Caribbean to eke out a 1-0 win in the five-Test series, their first capture of the Wisden Trophy in 10 years.
In contrasting early Spring weather in north London last week, West Indies struggled in both innings to be dismissed for 152 and 256. Nash shone in the second innings, however, carving out a fine 81 following on the heels of a first innings failure.
“I was disappointed with my shot in the first innings so I knew I had to correct that in the second innings. I was pleased that I made the adjustment in the second innings and I managed to get a good score,” said the Australia-born player.
