Dear Editor,
I am a member of the Linden Utility Services Co-op Society Ltd, who still owns a property at 398 One Mile Hill Wismar. One Mile and other areas became members after the co-op’s birth in 1960. Many of its nucleus members have passed to the great beyond, while others like me are out of the country seeking greener pastures. Ever since I became a member I cannot recall any dividends or reports, although it is my understanding that some persons are currently receiving these. I would like to know why, and when retroactive dividends will be paid to me and others.
Yours faithfully,
Wallace Leach
Editor’s note
We sent a copy of this letter to Mr Charles Sampson, the Secretary of the Committee of Management, Linden Utility Services Co-op Society, and received the following response from the General Manager, Ms Esme Yangapatty:
“Only in 1997 were bonuses and dividends paid to the Society’s shareholders. We are presently in the process of establishing our membership base. This notwithstanding, Mr Leach is invited to visit the Society’s head office at 10 Burnham Drive, Wismar, from Monday to Friday between 08:00 to 16:00 hrs, to have an update on the information he seeks.”
