(Jamaica Observer) – Karen Facey who tricked a Cayman national who she met via the internet, into believing that she was a beauty queen and a real estate agent and as a result collected $250,000, to buy an apartment, was remanded in custody when she showed up at the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.

The court heard that between January and April 9, the 21-year-old Facey and the complainant met online and she sent him photos of one of her friends. She also told him that she was a beauty queen and real estate agent. A relationship developed and the complainant sent her the said money to buy an apartment however when he visited Jamaica he had troubles locating her and had to trick her into meeting him.
