School children are once again being given an opportunity to see some of the popular local artistes on stage for a small fee, compliments of Kross Kolor Records (KKR).
KKR hosts its fourth annual school show at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall on Saturday, May 23.
Among those scheduled to perform are X2, Vanilla, Shelly G – the reigning Soca Queen, X Factor, B52, Ossie O, Big Red, Tennicia, Rajesh Dubraj and HRC who are all expected to give electrifying performances. Well known television personality Basil Bradshaw is slated to be the master of ceremonies (MC).
A release from the record company said that the idea of a school concert was born out of the fact that the company has enjoyed immense popular support from young Guyanese.
Tickets for the show will cost $400 and each school selling tickets will receive 10% of the sales, while there special cash incentives will be offered to the school that sells the most tickets.
And while the show is being held on a Saturday, the record company is still encouraging teachers to accompany students as has been done in the past.
During this year’s concert, the children will also witness an exhibition put on by the Guyana Red Cross Society, the National AIDS Programme Secretariat and a number of other agencies. The new feature of big screens on which performances can be viewed along with advertisements depicting a positive lifestyle has been added to this year’s concert.
KKR says hat security measures have been reviewed and it is expected that the show would be superb. It is believed that the crowd would be large based on the responses the concert has had over the last three years.
Students may wear jeans or full-length skirts, but must wear their school shirts, with ties and/or badge. They may also wear their school uniforms.
According to KKR, the concert has been incident free for the past three years and it is working overtime to ensure that it remains so this year.
The show is sponsored by Ansa McAl and Smalta, Digicel and HJTV; it is supported by the Guyana Police Force, the National Sports Council and PA Plus.
