Lester Alvis and Clifford Reis have emerged as front runners of a star-studded field which is expected to contest today’s Oasis Café sponsored golf tournament.
Several players have been showing tremendous form so far this season and a very close contest in expected when the Stableford tourney tees off today at the Lusignan Golf Club, East Coast Demerara.
Apart from Alvis who won last weekend’s Citizens Bank tournament, and Reis, Brian Hackett, Jerome Khan, Gavin Todd, Mike Guyadin, Christine Sukhram, Andre Cummings, Mark Lashley, Robert Hanoman and Dr. Ram Singh who have all been among the prize winners this year are expected to participate.
With so many big names the tournament at this stage is too close to call especially since the above names will be challenged by seasoned campaigners in Alfred Mentore, Maurice Solomon, Patrick Prashad, Imran Khan, Chatterpaul Deo, Mike Mangal, Colin Ming, Geert Hiekens, B. Deo, Ronald Bulkan, Mel Sankies, Carlos Adams, Ian Gouveia and the ever trying Joann Deo, Malissa Humphrey, Albert Semple and Brian Gladford.
Proprietor of Oasis Café William Walker, an ardent golf player is also expected to be among participants.
He is also expected to assist in the presentation of prizes at the end of the tournament.
Thirty eight players competed in last week’s tournament and officials of the Lusignan Golf Club disclosed that they are expecting a larger field this weekend as the weather continues to be fine and golfers are eager to participate.
There will be the regular tournament briefing 10 minutes before starting time.
Tee off is 12:30 hours.
