Two men, who robbed a Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara Chinese Restaurant of over $280,000 on Friday night, are in police custody and will be charged shortly.
Police, in a press release yesterday, said they are investigating an armed robbery that occurred around 10 pm on Friday during which Chinese Restaurant owner Rui Fend Zi was attacked and robbed by two men armed with knives.
Investigations have revealed that the two men were in the restaurant drinking beers and as the owner was about to close up, they held him at knife point and robbed him of $270,000, US$41 and 10 Japanese Yen. The men escaped.
Ranks at the Vreed-en-Hoop Police Station were informed and responded quickly, according to the release.
The two men were arrested shortly after at Phoenix Park, Pouderoyen, based on descriptions given by the victim.
The men were searched and all the cash stolen was recovered.
The men, police said, are in their custody and charges will be made shortly.
