A vendor was placed on bail in the sum of $35,000 last Friday when she appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court to answer the charge of possession of narcotics.
It is alleged that on May 21 at Georgetown, Tracy Philips of 202 Charlotte Street had in her possession eight grammes of cannabis. She pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to her.
When given a chance to respond, the defendant said, “My Worship, all I am asking is if you can please grant me bail.”
The prosecution had no objection to bail.
Philips was then placed on $35,000 bail and has to return to court on August 27.
