Rajesh Adhar slams 115 n.o. for No. 65
The 2008 New Building Society (NBS) Challenge Second Division 40-Over Cricket Competition organised by the Berbice Cricket Board for teams in the Ancient County continued last weekend with wins for Adelphi and Tain.
Adelphi of East Canje and Tain of Port Mourant became the latest teams to reach the last 16 of the competition after winning their latest preliminary matches.
In Zone G, Adelphi defeated Young Guns of Susannah by 110 runs in their 20-overs-a-side match thanks mainly to Avinash Khandai (58) and off-spinner Michael Butcher (5 for 15).
Then they disposed of Palmyra Young Strikers by 66 runs while in Zone `J’ Tain registered a comfortable seven-wicket win over Johns.
Highlighting play in other matches was the unbeaten 115 decorated with 12 fours and five sixes by Adhar for Number 65 in their match against Number 64 Moonmen.
His contribution, together with 55 from Rajendra Chandradat helped No. 65 reach 252 for 5 in their allotted 35 overs.
The Moonmen were routed for 73 in their response.
Other batsmen registering half centuries were Mahendranauth Vincent of Number 71, Vickey Veerasammy of Fyrish Road, Tosho Forrester of Big Star, Vincent Chattergoon of Strykers and Jainauth Chandelall of Woodley Park Young Strikers.
