The first half of the horse racing season will climax on Sunday when the Rising Sun Turf Club in collaboration with the Brotherhood of St Andrew in the Anglican Diocese pull off their annual one day horse race meet at the Rising Sun track West Coast Berbice from 1pm.
Seven races are listed on the day’s programme which has prize money totalling in excess of $2.5m up for grabs.
Banks DIH along with Rhythms Star International Sound System will once again play an integral part in the day’s proceedings.
A number of the country’s top horses are down to participate among them being Delmur Gold, Sequins, Miss Republic, Jumbo Joy, Tropical Passion, Too Straight and Finishing Touch.
When one adds Illogical, Sweet Caramel, Sweet Romance, Coconut Boy, Alphabet, Pixie Fire, Lady of My Dreams, Laura Lee in Flight, Kavinci, The Gap, Prospectors Pride, Vanessa, Casino Royal, Night Crescendo, Mystic, Natural Black and War Path to the fray, a day of excitining racing is forecast.
Beverage giants Banks DIH Limited has put forward $300,000 for the winner in the feature B class event which will run over a distance of 1400m.
The three year-old Open 1100m sprint has the sum of $200,000 as the first prize whilst in the E and lower event there is a first place prize of $160,000 over 1100m.
The G and lower 1400m gallop has a first prize of $100,000.00 and the “I and lower 1100m race has $90,000 as the top prize. J and K, sprint will go for a distance of 1100 M, with a first prize being $80.000and the L class 1100 Meters dash will see the winner being blessed with $75,000.00
The champion jockey and trainer for the day’s event which will see all the races being contested under a distance of 1400m will receive trophies compliments of Ramesh Sunich of Trophy Stall, Bourda Market.
