Guyana’s WBC Caribbean Boxing Federation (CABOFE) and NABA bantamweight champion Leon ‘Hurry-up’ Moore is set to headline this evening’s foreign invasion boxing card at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground in Linden and according to the world-rated boxer, the Linden people would be in for another treat.

It’s been six years since Moore last fought in Linden where he earned a unanimous decision over Mark ‘The Pit Bull’ Dummet to claim the national bantamweight title.

However, in a recent interview with Stabroek Sport the fighter whose alias is ‘Chicken’ said:  “I know I have many fans in Linden and I’ve always rated my fight against ‘Pit Bull’ Dummet as one of my best. That’s why I asked my manager Carwyn Holland who is also my part-time promoter to stage this card for my homies. I feel at home whenever I fight in Linden, and I just love the way the people there turn out in thousands to support any sport.”

His opponent tonight will be Mark Murray who is no pushover and Moore is not unmindful of this fact: “I don’t underestimate any fighter. I know for a fact that Mark Murray is a strong fighter and he is coming in a lot heavier than me for this fight, so I have to be at my best to avoid his power punches. But what I can promise my fans is that I will be the one raising my hands at the end of the fight.”

Apart from the Moore/Murray match-up, national heavyweight champion Mitchell Roger will face Clyde Williams and since this is the first time in two years that the local champion is stepping into the ring, he is certainly going out to make a statement.

Meanwhile, 41-year-old hard hitting Debbie ‘The Tiger’ Tyson who is making her second professional appearance will go against Lindener Sharon Warde.

But by far the most talked about fight will be the one between Fahaad ‘Linden Giant’ Alli and ‘Big Bad’ Shawn Harris of Georgetown. The two 300-pounders are set to clash in a three-round super heavyweight exhibition bout for the bragging rights title.

It is dubbed the ‘Big Bad Man’ contest with both fighters weighing well over 300 pounds.

Alli is a popular Lindener known for his poultry rearing and his mechanical skills, while Harris is known around Georgetown working as a labourer and driving horse carts.

Harris boldly stated he is coming to Linden to prove Fahaad is the “Mock Alli” and that he is the bigger and better fat man in Guyana. Alli on the other hand promised to drive the Mackenzie Hospital Ambulance which he services to the MSC Ground in the event he has to take ‘Big Bad’ Harris to the hospital.
