Five fiery goals from Thomas United’s Leon Richardson scorched the opposition when another round of matches in the Georgetown Football Association’s (GFA) Courts Pee Wee Under-11 Competition were contested at the Banks DIH Ground, Thirst Park yesterday.
Four matches, four winners was the end result of the day’s play as Thomas crushed Pele 7–0, Santos dusted aside Riddim Squad 2–0, Fruta Conquerors mauled Marian Academy 4–0 and Uprising tamed BK International Western Tigers 2–1.
In the Thomas/Pele match-up it did not take long for Richardson to get into his stride, recording his team’s first goal in the eighth minute, which was doubled the very next minute and topped with a hat–trick in the 20th minute. This gave his team a three goal led at the stroke of half time.
He soon got some support from his team mate Carl Griffith, who stepped in with a double (26th and 38th minutes) before Richardson got back on the ball to score in the 29th and 40th minutes to account for his team’s sixth and seventh goals.
Fruta Conquerors’ Ryan Hackett coming off of a double the previous week pressed on this week to record a hat-trick against Marian Academy who went down without scoring.
MA’s beating began from an Akeem Sam strike in the first minute that put them down by one goal; it was followed by Hackett’s first goal in the ninth that doubled Conquerors’ lead. Hackett then found his second goal in the 21st minute and finally his hat-trick just one minute before regulation time (39th).
A Job Caesar tenth minute strike and a second half Alvin Williams 22nd minute strike for the Santos Football Club accounted for their two goals.
Riddim Squad had no answer, while Keifer Brandt’s double (18th and 23rd) humbled the Western Tigers’ attack which could only manage one goal.
