Led by an unbeaten century from Derick Ramoutar, Floodlights XI defeated the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) on home turf on Friday when the two sides collided in the Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) Ivanoff Vodka sponsored softball match.
Floodlights XI batting first made 274 for four from their allotted 25 overs, while in reply GCC were restricted to 187 for nine.
Ramoutar slammed an even 100 and was well supported by Bedi Ramjewan who made a well played 52, while Ricky Deonarain also reached a half century (56 not out).
Despite the batting onslaught by Floodlights XI, Ramesh Ramsaroop was still able to finish with the best bowling figures for GCC, grabbing three wickets while only allowing 36 runs off his four overs.
GCC had found themselves trailing from the first ball in their time at the stumps, wanting to score nearly ten runs per over. This was due to some tight bowling and good fielding from Floodlights XI.
Rundolph Giddings was the highest scorer for GCC with 45, and Troy Gadogan 38 and Runold Mutto 33 not out were the main scorers for GCC.
Ramchand Ragbeer taking 2 for 16 and Jailall Deodass 2 for 19 were the best bowlers for Floodlights.
