Floodlights XI proved too bright for the GCC team when they competed last Friday in the DDL Ivanoff Vodka sponsored softball match.
According to a press release Derrick Ramoutar led the way with an undefeated 100; supported by Bedi Ramjewan’s 52 and Ricky Deonarain’s 56 not-out. This helped Floodlights XI to their huge total of 247 for four in the allotted 25 overs.
The team’s best bowlers were Ramchand Ragbeer who took two for 16 and Jailall Deodass who took two for 19.
GCC’s Ramesh Ramsaroop was named best bowler with 3 for 36 off 4 overs. Despite their home advantage, GCC were always behind the required run-rate of nearly 10 runs per over due to some tight bowling and good fielding from Floodlights. They were restricted for 187 for nine. GCC’s main scorers were Randolph Giddings, 45; Troy Cadogan, 38 and Ronald Mutto 33 not-out.
Ten trophies were presented for various performances in this match.
