Cabinet recently gave its “no objection” to five contracts valued over $157M that will benefit the social, housing and water and security sectors.
In a press release the Government Information Agency (GINA) said Head of the Presidential Secretariat Dr Roger Luncheon made this announcement at his post-Cabinet briefing on Tuesday.
The largest contract approved is $44.4M for the rehabilitation and upgrading of the tuberculosis clinic at the Georgetown Public Hospital. A $37.3M contract for the extension and rehabilitation of the Sophia Care Centre in Region Four was also green-lighted as well as a $18.4M contract for the renovation and upgrading of the Palms.
In the housing and water sector a $37.78M contract was given the go-ahead for the procurement of polyvinyl chloride, ductile iron pipes and fittings for the sewerage pumping station in central Georgetown. Additionally, no objection was given for the procurement of tools and equipment for the Guyana Fire Service, to the value of $19.6M.
