The two-month-old baby girl, who was born with two additional features to her head, was in a stable condition at the Paediatric Ward of the Georgetown Public Hospital yesterday.
The infant was born with what hospital sources described to this newspaper as ‘two additional heads’ and was re-admitted to the GPHC last week after suffering several complications affecting key organs including her heart and lungs.
The child has a normal head with facial features but the two additional ‘heads’ do not have any facial features except for a few strands of hair and she is being fed through a tube with liquid-type food as it is difficult for her to be breastfed by her mother.
The child was delivered at the maternity ward of the GPHC two months ago by caesarean–section and she was discharged from the medical institution a few weeks after birth.
There have been suggestions that the hospital should seek medical assistance from overseas to evaluate the condition of the child and to determine what options are available.
