LONDON, (Reuters) – Amir Khan’s first crack at a world title could be postponed because Ukrainian WBA world light-welterweight champion Andreas Kotelnik has a tooth infection, Khan’s promoters said. The fight is planned for June 27 in London but the 31-year-old Kotelnik damaged a tooth while sparring and it has become infected.
“We are just waiting to hear back from his promoters,” a spokesman for Frank Warren, Khan’s promoter said yesterday. “It’s all a bit up in the air at the moment.
Briton Khan, the Olympic silver medallist at lightweight in 2004, has stepped up to light-welterweight for his first world title fight.
His promoters said another opponent would be sought should Kotelnik be unable to fight.
