A 39-year-old labourer pleaded guilty to using threatening language to a schoolgirl and was yesterday remanded to prison when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
On June 14 at Diamond, East Bank Demerara, Prakash Hemchand of Section ‘A’ Diamond made use of threatening language to a minor, resulting in a breach of the peace. Hemchand told the schoolgirl that he was in love with her and couldn’t help it.
The matter was called to the bench and a lengthy discussion ensued. A probation report on the matter was ordered and the unrepresented Hemchand was remanded to prison until July 3.
