A 27-year-old minibus operator on Wednesday pleaded not guilty to two counts of conspiracy to commit a felony when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court, accused of tendering a forged driver’s licence.
It is alleged that on March 19 at Georgetown, Devon Seales of 11 Bent Street, Wortmanville with intention to defraud, presented a forged driver’s licence to Lance Corporal Noel purporting to show that it was issued to him by the Licence Revenue Office.
It is also alleged that between October 12, 2004 and December 12, 2005, with intention to commit a felony, the said Devon Seales forged one driver’s licence purporting to show that it was granted by the licence office, knowing same to be false.
When given a chance to respond, the defendant told the court that his licence was genuine and was issued by the licence office. He said that no proper investigation had been launched by the police into the matter and he was wrongfully paying for the mistakes of the licence office which had written incorrect pieces of information on the document.
Police Prosecutor Denise Griffith, however, argued that according to completed investigations by the police, it was seen that the defendant had been driving with a forged driver’s licence. Griffith then asked that bail be refused.
