Physical fitness instructor, sports organiser and community activist Eli Hazel is exhorting fathers in New Amsterdam and its environs to come out and support today’s Father’s Day stroll.
Fresh from his successful Mother’s Day 15-mile run from Port Mourant to New Amsterdam, Hazel has organised an eight-mile, Father’s Day stroll in recognition of fathers in Guyana.
The event will begin at 5am today from Lot 40 Stanleytown, New Amsterdam proceed to Sandvoort and return to the point of origin for the conclusion.
Hazel, who hails from Stanleytown, is an employee of GT&T and a qualified physical fitness instructor.
He is also the founder of the Unity for the Nation Group and, along with his manager Jerrod Young, has been organising a number of community activities including walks, runs, jogs, strolls and cycling in recognition of health, good manners, unity, youths and the elderly.
Participants are asked to wear white or red and white.
Hazel is calling on all fathers to come out and participate in order to show love and appreciation.
He said that fathers and men in general must not only be seen as bullies and disciplinarians but as people who can spread love and who can still be role models.
