According to a police press release, at about 12:30 am Usha Ashram was attacked and robbed by two men, one of whom was armed with a hand gun.
Investigations by police have so far revealed that Ashram was alone at home when she was aroused by the two men who had entered her house.
The men entered by using a ladder to climb through a window. Ashram was held at gunpoint and robbed of her jewellery after which the men escaped.
Acting upon information received, one of the men was later arrested. The person in custody is expected to be charged shortly.
