Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson on Thursday ordered 34-year-old Raul Williams to be supervised by a probation officer over the next two years after he allegedly burnt his reputed wife on her leg following an argument.
Williams pleaded not guilty to the charge of assault causing actual bodily harm when he appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court. The father of three of Goed Intent, Mahaica denied that he unlawfully assaulted Ronitte Garnett last Sunday at his home.
Garnett later told the court that she was no longer interested in pursuing the matter but asked the magistrate to give Williams a warning. She said that she sustained a burn on her leg after Williams hit her with a hot iron. Garnett said that they had had an argument which may have prompted him to injure her.
The magistrate then asked the couple to approach the bench where a lengthy discussion ensued. Williams was then put on probation supervision for two years and was ordered to pay court costs in the sum of $10,000.
