We must demand more from our public servants

Dear Editor,

There seems to be little response from our officials and leaders to many issues raised in the news or letters to the press. Our first contact with government is usually with a public servant (no longer called civil).

At these times we are more than likely exposed to their frustrations, corruption and bad manners.  It is clear that too many officials and public servants at all levels are failing to do their jobs, and their salaries cannot be used as an excuse for not doing so.  We must stop excusing this behaviour by only blaming the President or the entire government. Until our leaders address corruption, incompetence and bad manners at all levels there will be little progress. We must demand more from the President on down to the local government clerk if our lives are to be improved.

Yours faithfully,
