A 39-year-old father of two was yesterday remanded to prison when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court to answer to the charges of assault, threatening language and ill-treatment of a child.
It is alleged that on June 27 at Linden, Ray Peeres of 117 Central Amelia’s Ward made use of threatening language to Lisa Paul resulting in a breach of the peace of the occasion.
It is also alleged that on June 26 at Linden, Peeres, being a guardian of Brando Peeres, ill-treated the said Brandon Peeres so as to cause him unnecessary suffering to his health.
On June 27 also, the said Ray Peeres is also alleged to have unlawfully assaulted Lisa Paul.
Peeres pleaded not guilty to the charges when they were read to him by the Acting Chief Magistrate.
The unrepresented Peeres was subsequently remanded to prison until July 7 and his matter was transferred to the Christianburg Magistrate’s Court.
