Organisers of the Linden Town Week Pageant 2009 fulfilled their commitments to the winner and runners-up of the pageant last Saturday at a public but simple ceremony at the Digicel Linden outlet.
Miss Linden Town Week Nikisha Telford who was sponsored by CRH and Son rode off with a brand new Jailing 125 motorcycle compliments of Picturethis Produc-tions and a brand new cell phone compliments of Digicel.
First runner-up Jenelle Babb sponsored by 20/20 Sports Bar was presented with two tickets to Bar-bados compliments of Picturethis Productions, while the second runner-up Sheovon Gilbert sponsored by Church’s Chicken received a brand new computer compliments of the Ministry of tourism.
Third runner-up Toshanna Allicock sponsored by Jac’s Hotel and Bakery was also adjudged Miss photogenic through public voting on the international website Guymine.com for which she received a brand new Dell desk top computer and US$200. She was also adjudged Miss Congeniality and won the best smile award of a pair of gold earrings from Snooks Variety. The first and second runners-up were also presented with gift packages from Digicel.
The winners had waited approximately two months for their prizes.
According to coordinator of the pageant committee Leon Roberts the delay of the presentation was due to unforeseen circumstances but he was very pleased that they were finally able to honour their commitments to the deserving young women. He said the cash awards were given to the winners prior to Saturday’s ceremony.
“Saturday was to present the much larger prizes. I must express my gratitude to all the sponsors and I am most happy to note that the top four were sponsored by businesses owned and operated by Lindeners,” Roberts added.
Picturethis Production is optimistic of having the franchise to run off the pageant next year and promises a much bigger show which would coincide with the town’s 40th anniversary.
