A 28-year-old man who allegedly had carnal knowledge of an 11-year-old girl was yesterday remanded to prison when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
It is alleged that on July 7 at Georgetown, Mark Persaud of 81 Breda Street, Georgetown had carnal knowledge of an 11-year-old girl.
Persaud was not required to plead to the indictable offence of carnal knowledge when it was read to him by the Acting Chief Magistrate.
The matter was called to the bench where a lengthy discussion ensued.
The unrepresented pastry vendor who was brought to tears was remanded to prison until July 24.
