Dear Editor,
The finals of the Wimbledon Champion-ship on the women’s side was a family affair for the Williams. For those of us who are keen followers of the game it was déjà vu.
In the first semi-final Serena outlasted Elena Dementieva in an epic battle that was a joy to watch. The other semi-final was brutal and swift. Venus destroyed Dinara Safina in straight sets.
It was a classic example of a mismatch.
The final was an exhibition of power tennis which saw Serena at her best claiming her 11th grand slam title. This to my mind was a victory for Richard Williams.
Yours faithfully,
H McKinnon
