An 18-year-old labourer accused of committing the offence of burglary was yesterday remanded to prison when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
It is alleged that on July 16 at Georgetown, Travis John of 641 Tucville, Georgetown broke and entered the dwelling of Adam Harris and stole items valued $658,000, property of the virtual complainant.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him by the Acting Chief Magistrate.
Police Corporal Munilall Seetaram told the court that all of the items with the exception of a cell phone and assorted liquor had been recovered. He added also that the defendant took the police to the location where he had taken the items.
John was subsequently refused bail and remanded to prison until July 30 for report.
