Local golfers will be looking forward to improved weather this weekend when they compete in the Edward Ajodha sponsored Medal Play Golf tournament at the Lusignan Golf course on Saturday.
The tournament was originally scheduled for last weekend but was rained out and according to Captain of the Lusignan Golf Club (LGC) Jerome Khan the players are eager to get back on the course.
Khan said the sponsor, Attorney-at-Law and Chartered Accountant Edward Ajodha is an ardent golf player who has been very supportive of activities at the LGC.
Ajodha recently spearheaded a fund-raising drive in the United States in support of the LGC and the proceeds – $1,000 USD was presented to the Club, Khan said.
Close to 35 golfers are expected to tee off this weekend they include Avinash Persaud, Patrick Prashad, Mike Mangal, Alfred Mentore, Ronald Bulkan, Maurice Solomon, Christine Sukhram, Ian Gouveia, Lester Alvis, Clifford Reis, Mike Guyadin, Jerome Khan, Mel Sankies, Joann Deo, Chatterpaul Deo, Brian Glasford, Colin Ming, Gavin Todd, Mark Lashley, Brian Hackett and Carlos Adams.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers as well as Nearest to the Pin.
There will also be special prizes for the best front nine and back nine holes as well as most gross.
Tee off is at 12:00 hours and players are reminded to register by Friday afternoon with the club attendant at telephone number 220-5660.
