A 74-year-old woman on Tuesday died after sustaining injuries due to a fall.
According to reports reaching Stabroek News, Carmen Hopkinson of 55 Industry, East Coast Demerara sustained injuries to the head due to a fall from a platform.
She was pronounced dead on arrival (DOA) at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Meanwhile, Ingrid D’Andrade, the woman’s sister, told this newspaper in a telephone interview that her sister was standing on her back step when the rail that she was bracing on gave away, causing her to fall into the yard.
D’Andrade added that when the woman’s daughter rushed to her assistance, she was heard saying, “I’m not going to make it.”
