Guyanas girls team sent out a stern warning to their opponents when they completely demolished Bermuda 5-0 in the team semifinal of the Caribbean Area Squash Association (CASA) junior championships in Barbados.
After disposing of Barbados 3-2 and Jamaica 4-1 in the group phase, the Guyanese girls were in no mood to be generous as they tuned up for today’s final against Trinidad and Tobago. The Trinis surprised Jamaica in their semifinal when, Charlotte Knaggs upset Jessica Perkings to give the Twin Island republic the eventual 3-2 win.
That result means that the Guyanese boys will have to get past Bermuda this afternoon if the team has any hopes of retaining the overall title, as Trinidad are almost certain to take care of a depleted OECS team in the other boys semifinal.
The girl’s final is scheduled for 9:00am while the boys final is scheduled for 12:30pm.
