GSL donates softball equipment to Berbice
Berbice received a quantity of wickets, bats and balls from Mike’s Pharmacy to assist them in their preparation for the Guyana Softball League (GSL) Kiddy Care Softball Tournament geared to attract the under-15 level of cricketers.
Some 14 teams have already registered to take part in the tournament which commences in the coming week.
Organizers of the tournament expect a high standard of play since the Berbice district has been known to produce a number of good cricketers.
Berbice representative, Omeshwar Sirikishun, upon receiving the equipment remarked that the gesture had come at the right time, during the resuscitation of softball cricket in the area.
He also assured that all the equipment will be used to uplift the game of softball in the ancient county. It will go a long way, he added, in helping the youths to be more actively involved in meaningful sports while displaying their talent to the fullest.
