First division club Netrockers were surprisingly held to a 2-2 draw by a young and inexperienced Vasco line-up when the Upper Demerara Football Association (UDFA) Stag B-League continued on Thursday at the Bayrock ground.
In fact, the lowly-rated Vasco stunned the Netrockers outfit from the onset scoring after only two minutes of play, thanks to a superb strike from Jermaine Preston.
Netrockers, fighting to retain their first-division status in this league, benefited from two quick goals.
The first came in the 27th minute through striker Keon Bristol and a minute later Rodrick Richards netted the second.
Vasco, however, ensured that they got a share of the points when Dexter Garraway netted in the 83rd minute.
The young Vasco lineup is expected to draw inspiration from their showing against Netrockers and will be looking to make a strong impression in this tournament.
Netrockers, though, might be concerned over the fact that they have been unable to score full points in their two games so far. Added to this, striker Bristol would have to sit out their next game for picking up yellow cards in successive matches.
Their rousing midfielder Ray Fraser will also miss out on the next game after drawing a red card in their opening encounter against Amelia’s Ward United on Sunday.
Play continues today with a double header at the Bayrock ground with Coomacka United tackling Flamingo from 14:00hrs and Amelia’s Ward United squaring off against Peacemakers from 16:00hrs.
