– Guyana’s Junior squash team pulled off the remarkable feat of repeating as boys, girls and overall team champions as the curtain came down on the 2009 Junior Caribbean Area Squash Association (CASA) championships yesterday in Barbados.

The girls had a tougher than expected time of it against a determined Trinidad & Tobago team in the girls final.

The Guyanese started well with Ashley Khalil completely outplaying Emily Bones. Then Victoria Arjoon held her nerve to defeat a much improved Charlotte Knaggs 3-1.

Twin sister Keisha and Kayla Jeffrey then went down to Kerrie Sample and Amy Gillezeau in the two under 19 matches, before Akeila Wiltshire sealed the championship for the Guyanese with an emphatic 3-0 victory over Faith Gillezeau.

In the boys final Alexander Arjoon played out of his skin to stun Kale Wilson 3-0.

Steven Xavier then lost to Mandela Patrick 0-3. Raphael deGroot then let his two love lead slip away against Kevin Ross before refocusing in the fifth to end his junior career with a victory for his boys team.

precedes him, he held it together to clinch the win for his team in the fifth, after his opponent came back from 1-2 down.

Nyron Joseph then lost to Nku Patrick 1-3, but by then it was already decided.

Guyana has now made history as the only country to sweep all three team titles in two consecutive years.
