The post-mortem (PM) examination on Ramattie Deonauth, who was allegedly killed by her son last Sunday night, is expected to be performed today following which the suspect is expected to be charged with the capital offence.
Another son Davendra Deonauth told this newspaper yesterday that the PM was expected to be performed on his mother yesterday but was put off for reasons unknown to him. He said his brother Ravindranauth Siew is presently in police custody. He is expected to appear in court shortly. Ramattie Deonauth died last Sunday night allegedly at the hands of her 33 year old son who was intoxicated at the time.
The woman, who reportedly suffered years of abuse at the hands of the suspect, was discovered lying motionless on her bedroom floor last Monday morning.
Ramattie Deonauth is survived by three of her four children and she is expected to be cremated this weekend.
In the July 22 edition of SN Siew was incorrectly identified as Davendra Deonauth. Stabroek News regrets the error and apologises to Deonauth for any inconvenience caused.
