The Central Corentyne Chamber of Commerce has condemned the destruction by fire, of the Ministry of Health and has extended its support to Minister Dr Leslie Ramsammy and his staff.
In a press release the Chamber said the importance of the ministry and its services cannot be underscored. Besides the millions of dollars in losses incurred and the destruction of vital records, “we see this as a direct attack on the State, Democracy and the People of Guyana,” it said.
The Chamber said the act marks a retrograde step designed to intimidate and frustrate and it hopes the perpetrators of the crime are brought to swift justice. It also expresses its solidarity with and encouragement to the minister and his staff.
