Three men appeared at the Wales Magistrate’s Court yesterday on a charge of illegal possession of fuel and were granted bail.
Imran Khan of Goed Intent, West Bank Demerara (WBD), Thakur Satrohan of Canal Number One and Dhaniram Talechandra, a taxi-driver of Long Pond, Sisters Village, WBD pleaded not guilty to the charge of illegal possession of petroleum and were each granted bail in the sum of $150,000 by Magistrate Judy Latchman.
It is alleged that on June 6 in the vicinity of Canal Number One Polder, the trio had in their possession a quantity of illegal petroleum, to wit diesel, which did not contain the marker. Following investigations, the Guyana Energy Agency laid the charges against them.
The three men were ordered to return to court on September 18 at the Wales Magistrate’s Court.
